SPEEDO is the world's top-selling swimwear brand. They dominates the world of competitive swimming. SPEEDO originated in 1914, but didn’t become known by their now famous brand name until 1928. The company was founded by a young Scot named Alexander MacRae. He migrated to Australia in 1910,and established an underwear manufacturing business called MacRae Hosiery manufacturers.
MacRae quickly expanded his operations to include swimwear. Speedo has followed swimwear changes ever since. Today they are a global brand. In the 1970's Speedo started producing swimwear made of nylon/elastane - which today is still the most popular swimwear fabric.
